I had this problem, as well. I added a line to font.aliases for snap and
it took care of the problem. I  don't recall exactly what I put in there
(I'm not at home at the moment), but it was something like:

snap -misc-snap-medium-r-semicondensed--12-120-75-75-c-60-iso8859-1
