Blackbox newbie questions

I am running Blackbox on Debian 2.2 and have the following questions:

1)  How do I set Blackbox as the default window manager?

2) How do I specify a "root" window image?

3) When I run "xemacs" in Blackbox, the top and bottom of the window is not
visible, am I configured wrong?
