Allowing 'xsetroot -cursor_name' to work properly is not "making the
product too configurable". On the contrary, the current product is
actually reducing functionality that was already present without the
window manager.
Allowing the root window cursor to be the default cursor will make
Blackbox neither significantly bigger nor significantly slower than it
is now. In fact, it might even speed up by a neglible amount, since no
default cursor would have to be created or set for the root window.
