The non-existent icons are the main feature of blackbox ;-) > Does anyone know any solutions to the problem? In fact, gmc (gnome's file manager) cares about the icons. Blackbox currently not fully co-operates with those icons, but will in the near future, afaik. (New wm-spec). For now, switch to another wm ;-) Another very small, fast and yet powerful file manager you might consider is ROX-Filer (rox.sourceforge.net). It features pinboard and even desk-icons. I use it with blackbox, and i like it. wilbert
