Another choice, although not quite as nice as a "normal icon" is to
detach the "Icon" (Root -> Workspace List -> Icons) menu list from the
root menu. It's also sticky between viewports. It holds the names of ALL
iconified windows (not just the current viewport), which is a feature or a
nuisance depending on how you look at it :-)

I find it very useful for keeping track of NEdit windows when coding.

If your after KDE/Windoze style icons it's not as useful, but it is an
alternative (and keeps in the tradition of bb's sleek, stripped down 
style!).
