vim from menu problems

I can't seem to get vim to launch when I 
add it as an exec entry in the menu.  The 
~/.xsession-errors gets a lot of stuff in it, 
but I can't seem to find the solution.

I checked the archives and man, but didn't 
see anything on this.  Has anyone else 
experienced this?  Do I need to pass in any 
args when I call it?

Running 0.61.3 on Deb potato.
