Hmmm, well, first of all, it should not be in the system-wide
config-file but rather in your user's .xinitrc.  You see, since Linux is
a multi-user system, other people might want to run another
windowmanager, an so even if you're the only person on the machine, it
would be a good idea to get used to the common practice.

Having said that, I have no idea why it would be iconified not all of
the time, sorry ;-)

Try to place it in _your_ ~/.xinitrc and see what happens, though.
