Qt library versions, perhaps?
There are known focus problems with many versions of Motif; several
window managers are known to have problems with them (Window Maker,
sawfish among them). The usual method of tickling the bug is to open a
pop-up menu (in Motif, the buttons with the raised dash on the
righthand side).
Netscape v4 is famous for this: you use a pop-up menu on a webform,
then move to a text field on the same form, and suddenly the keyboard
focus no longer works. Click on Netscape's titlebar and things go back
to normal.
mwm doesn't seem to have this problem. Wonder if the bug is in the
focus-handling code of the window managers instead of in Motif...?
