One of the guys on IRC just told me that E developers claim E17 be faster
then BB...

The internals are very much a state machine, much like Evas is. This means
that all the work is only done in idle time - avoiding useless processing
while E17 is busy handling a large stream of incoming events. The code has
been optimized from the design standpoint - not the "save a comparison
here and there" point. This has meant HUGE speedups. So far E17 is showing
itself to be more responsive and faster than all WM's I've tested it
against (this includes Blackbox, twm, fvwm, fvwm2, Windowmaker, mwm, and
Sawfish). Admittedly E17 isn't hellishly lean on memory usage - but the
design goal here is sheer speed, aesthetics, and user friendliness and
responsiveness, whilst pushing the bleeding edge a little further along,
and providing new exciting ideas for users to feast on. E17 should run
just fine - if not snappily, even on a low end machine, as long as you are
not too short on memory.
