This can't be entirly true.  There is an api for getting monitor 
boundries,number of screens, ect. .  Why would they need any of this 
unless there was some idea that people would want an xinerama awear 
window manager?

You would never have this problem because  configure --disable-xinerama.


Regardless of what is the correct behavior,  it seems that there is a 
strong want for 'xinerama support'.  If the code is conditionaly 
compiled, and would have no impact on those who don't want it, I can't 
see a problem with it...?
