there is no way to call the menu with a keybinding, sorry.

Blackbox was designed to be visually minimal.  These means not showing icons. 
"iconify" really means "I do not want to see it right now".  If this does not
suit your usage habits, perhaps window shading could replace iconifying?

You have to log out of blackbox, edit the file, and log back in.  When blackbox
exits it writes out the current configuration to disk, overwriting your changes.
