ah yes, there are two families of email actions: Email Item... and
Email To...
Both "families" have Compose, Send and Send Directly actions.
Email Item... is used as:
<address or contact> Email Item... <text or file>
Email To... is used as:
<text or file> Email To... <address or contact>
New users often don't notice that the actions are named differently.
The first pane in Quicksilver is the object you want to manipulate,
the 2nd is the action. Some actions like these take a third argument
and usually the action's name gives a clue as to what the third pane
show be.

it was in fact enabled
I was looking under email addresses actions category
which had email item (send directly)
which I'm not sure works, or perhaps it does but not in a way that I
understood?
that led me to realize that even when I unchecked compose mail, the
application did not respond.
when I did a search for email I found several other options and
clicked the email to (send directly ) which was unchecked.
the point is, I found it, and it works.
Thanks for the fast help Howard.

it does not even show up as an option
it only shows compose email
Look in the Action prefs and make sure it's enabled (checked).
executing that function brings up the mail.app compose screen, but I
want it to be sent outside of mail.app
some guidance would be appreciated on this; new quicksilver user

See the manual in the mail
