Good luck. One of the things I like about QS is that order often doesn't matter. In the examples I gave:

<text or file>, Email to...(Compose), <address>
<address>, Email Item...(Compose) <text or file>

Sometimes people doesn't realize those are two different actions but they are and they let QS adjust to how you think. If you first pick the file and then the person, great, if the other way around, no problem. The issue you hit is that you don't need to mention the Mail application in order to use it. That is the magic QS provides. I don't need to mention Safari (or firefox or whatever) to use a bookmark or do a web search, I can get right to the thing I want without having to think about the app I use.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will read the guide and learn more.

I did check the "Handlers" pref, and "Mail" is the email handler.

You are right, I tap in "Mail" then "compose" then find the recipient.

I tested out the recipient's name first, then compose and bang, there
it is.

The whole "order of operations" thing from math class is haunting
me...

Have you:
Installed the Apple mail Module and E-mail support plugins? And set
'Mail' as the email handler under preferences -> handlers

You should then get actions like 'send item to....' and 'compose
email' etc.

If you haven't already, read Howard's guide (download link in a sticky
topic on this group).

Just looked at my local copy... go to page 75 of his guide :)

New to QS and I am getting used to all the functions.

One thing I haven't figured out is how to get it to compose an email
correctly. I think I can get it to consistently start up Mail, but
when I tap in the shortcuts to Compose and email to someone from my
Address Book, it tries to add the entire Mail.app as an attachment.

Happens each time I go to compose an email while working on another
app. Any suggestions?
