Could be any number of things. If it's clipboard related then it's probably something huge you (maybe accidently) copied to it. Usually it's that a catalog source is configured to infinite depth or Find All Applications is checked and an external drive was connected. Otherwise, check Console.app for messages that might suggest something.

Hey, thanks! Sorry I didn't check the FAQ.
I'll start with trying to delete that clipboard history file.

I'm not sure what caused the problem yesterday (but not the day
before)... Any comment on that?

Thanks, Donovan

Anyone know what's going on? QS was working great yesterday and I'm
not sure what the hell happend to my Macbook Pro (Leopard btw) but
today when I went to turn on my computer (QS loads on startup) I got a
QS-crash. Subsequent attempts led to more crashes. As stated in
title, QS ends up grabbing all my system memory, about 2GB, before OS
X kills the application. I have no idea what's going on. I tried
uninstalling QS and downloading a new package (and installing it) but
it didn't seem to help with anything.

Then again come to think of it, to uninstall QS I just threw it into
the trash. Is that the right thing to do? Duhhhh
