Hmm, I'll have to find a better link.

i read this in the manual

In this example I want folders, so I enter ‘fold’ and
type tab and it’s replaced with “folder”. I choose a depth of 1
to include my Games and Browsers folders but not folders that
some applications come with (or the Contents folders inside
the .app packages) . Some Type Codes are listed here.

"here" is a link to www.apple.com.......i guess thats a mistake

One more thing that i want to add here:

suppose i have a file in home/abc/ghi/jkl/p.jpeg and another file in
abc/ghi/jkl/p2.jpeg
If QS takes 5 seconds for p.jpeg it wont take anytime again for
p2.jpeg.....so it has something to do with cataloging....maybe i
should think of resizing it.(I have 20000 files for cataloging, is
that more?)

I try to keep my catalog to about 5000 items total. I have tips in
the manual for cataloging just folders several levels deep to make
this more useful

Just one question: Would QS respond faster if I put 100 files across 2
levels in a Volume rather than 50 files across 8 levels

I'm not sure.

What are the permissions on the source files on the remote volumes?

A move command that is issued that has the source and target devices
on different physical disks is actually two commands: copy source-
target, then delete source if the copy returns successful. If you

try to move a file for which Quicksilver has read but not write
permission, it will copy, and then fail when it tries to delete. It
will also fail to delete an open or otherwise locked file.

I believe that between any two volumes, Move to... does a copy,
just
like dragging in the Finder between volumes does a copy by default.

Delays like you describe are usually because:
1. You have the TextMate Ranker installed. It does screw up the 3rd
pane for say Open With...
2. You have a very large catalog and it takes QS time to build
the 3rd
pane results list.

See the FAQhttp://groups.google.com/group/blacktree-quicksilver/web/faq

My experience with the move action of quicksilver:

Problem 1: When I select a file and then select the action "move
to" (i.e. typing mo...), I see the rotating wheel(indicating
"busy")
and it takes atleast five seconds for the action "move to" to
appear
and then the third pane opens.

Problem 2:

Let us say, I have three volumes: Volume 1(Leopard installed)
                                                                   Volume
 2
                                                                   Volume
 3

Case 1: Move a file "x" from Volume 1 to Volume 2-------works fine Case 2: Move a file "x" from Volume 2 to Volume 3-------works fine
Case 3: Move a file "x" from Volume 3 to Volume 1-------file is
copied
(not moved)
Case 2: Move a file "x" from Volume 2 to Volume 1-------file is
copied
(not moved)

My QS version is B54(3815)

Any help appreciated.
