Another advantage of using the Show Contents trigger in the main command window. it's easy to use the default action or to select a different one via the second pane (including using the shift-command- letter trick). Getting to Paste for text quickly, is easy, even if Find With... is the default action for text.

not for folders, files etc though folders, files can be placed there.
Having said this, it is pretty annoying that you have to first bring up the shelf, select text, and then do a Cmd-C and Cmd-V or drag with a mouse. If i simply select the text and drag it to the edge(edge where my shelf is located) then the shelf does not come up.

I find it easiest to select the text, use cmd-esc to bring it into quicksilver's first pane and select the Put on Shelf action.
