I had recently upgraded to B56 (3818) and the first problem I received
after going through the initial setup was that Quicksilver was
crashing on launch. After removing all my old .qsplugin files I was
able to launch and get through the initial setup (where I could only
get through the PlugIn installation if I installed one at a time) but
once that completed I encountered what I believe is the same problem
as you. My QS hotkey caused an alert sound on each attempt.

In my case, I had my QS menu item and icon set to hide so there was no
way for me to access the interface. I quit QS and opened
com.blacktree.Quicksilver.plist, set QSShowMenuIcon to '1', saved the
plist and relaunched QS. Now I could open the preferences via the menu
item. I enabled the 'Primer' Interface and was then able to access the
QS window at last.

This leads me to believe that the build of QS I used doesn't ship with
an interface? Can anyone verify this or clear up my understanding of
why this happened?
