One often overlooked trick. Compose an email message, write the text. When you want to add the attachment, bring it up in the first pane of Quicksilver (which is fast because it's QS) and then drag directly from the first pane to the email message (in Mail.app). It's using QS as a convenient drag source.

yes, i love this trick. i use this all time. It is most useful when you drag it in "open/save" dialog...i can't imagine browsing to the file step by step from one folder to another--so annoying.

If i have a folder contaning of songs/videos, i drag it in the playlist area of iTunes and a new playlist is created. there may be other ways to do it but it is a very obvious way and hence preferable.
