I don't know how else to describe it. Take the clipboard history panel that appears, drag it to a screen edge and partially off the screen, say halfway. Let go, wait a second or two and it should disappear. I have my Dock on the right side of the screen and put the clipboard history on the bottom and the shelf on the left side.
