Ah, you're talking about using the Search For... or Find With... actions. No they only use the default web browser.

You could write an applescript action that takes text entered in the first pane and constructs the appropriate google search url and opens it in firefox. Then put it in ~/Library/Application Support/ Quicksilver/Actions/ so it's available as an action in the 2nd pane.

The Open URL... action uses the system default web browser. This is
(non-intuitively) set in the Safari General preferences.

There's also the Open URL With... action which lets you pick a browser
in the 3rd pane.
