I've been running with this on since the beginning and I think it's
extremely helpful with no drawbacks.
Yes, you may end up in text entry mode when you didn't mean to be, but
only if your typing didn't match anything, and in that case, there's
nothing to gain by staying in the "regular" mode either. Also, ending
up in text mode when you weren't expecting it makes it really obvious
that you've screwed something up and might as well stop typing.
