B56 should run on 10.4. I've found it unusable, but I seem to have a unique issue. Others have been fine.
In any case, you can always try it (copy ~/Library/App Support/ Quicksilver and ~/Library/Preferences/com.blacktree.quicksilver.plist— maybe a couple others, there's a list—launch b56, if it crashes just restore and go back to b54). And if it doesn't work, b54 is still working.
