Howard, if you rely on the Current Selection proxy you need to make
sure that you delete all other Instances of Quicksilver from your HDD
so that /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs (this is the new, now public,
pasteboard indexer) cannot index another Info.plist file from a
Quicksilver.app bundle.

If there are more than one Info.plist files registering the same "Get
Current Selection (Internal)" service menu action it will confuse the
new SL Services facility and getting the selection (and presumably the
Current Selection proxy object) will just not work (maybe for text in
TextEdit but thats it).
If you have deleted all other QS instances from your HDD then you will
need to go to the new Services configuration pane in the System
Preferences.app (under the keyboard stuff) and check both services
("Get Current Selection (Internal)" and "Send to Quicksilver") that
Quicksilver's Info.plist defines. These are disabled by default
because the Info.plist lacks certain keys needed for the new Services
facility. (tip: if you have problems with some services you expect
should be there but are not showing up run the following shell command
"/System/Library/CoreServices/pbs -dump_pboard > ~/
registered_pboards.plist" and inspect the "registered_pboards.plist"
in your home dir).
If you do that you should be able to get the current selection from
anywhere with Cmd+Esc and the current selection proxy should work.
Also note that (currently) the File Attributes plugin is unstable and
might cause crashes as well as the Services plugin.

Nathan, you should be able to browse your HDD just fine, including
depressing Alt to browse with hidden files visible. If you have any
plugins installed which do something to the file system in QS try
turning those off.
