I backed up my settings before updating, but kept them in place to see if they'd work. And they do. I've had no issues. I'd recommend back up your settings (including a .zip of your existing Quicksilver.app), but keep them. Worst case scenario you upgrade, find it buggy and then delete all your older settings. QS will create a fresh application support folder/preferences file, if there isn't one and it will be as good as new.
