There's a few of us had this problem before & it turned out to be because we 
had Fruit Menu installed. 

If you have FruitMenu installed you could try one of the other interfaces? I 
know I changed from BezelHUD to a different interface & the problem went away.

You can also try uninstalling FruitMenu & restarting your machine. It's very 
unlikely it's going to be supported in Lion so you could start getting used to 
a Fruit Menu free OS X now.

If you haven't got FruitMenu installed it's probably another similar piece of 
software.
