I've had WindowShade running, yes.  However, I thought of that when
the problem first started coming up and added QS to the exceptions
handler in WindowShade to prevent it from interfering.  The problem
continued, so I disabled and unloaded WindowShade entirely, and the
problem still persisted no matter which interface was in use.  I'm not
using any other of the other "known bad applications".

I reformatted my entire hard drive this morning and reinstalled from a
Time Machine backup.  So far...knock on wood...the problem seems to
have gone away (even with WindowShade still running).  Hopefully it
will stay this way...
