I had this same issue, except on Snow Leopard. I had updated from within QS (i.e. clicked the "check for updates", then accepted the install of ß61). QS failed to relaunch after upgrade. I figured it was an old plugin gumming up the works. I moved my Library/ Application Support/Quicksilver dir and even whacked my prefs file. QS would then launch, but the Catalog was clearly broken: the left pane only showed "Modules" and "Custom", and I couldn't add any new catalog items. Some modules weren't visible in the Catalog even though their plugins were installed (such as Safari).
I deleted the entire QS app and re-downloaded directly from the website. So far, everything is working again.
