I'm not sure I understand. If you want to assign an abbreviation for a URL in the first pane so that say typing z brings up the URL to amazon.com, yes you can do that the standard way. Bring up the URL in the first pane and use the Assign Abbreviation action in the second pane. Just as with other things you can paste the URL into the first pane.
