Setting up iTunes trigger to open/launch iTunes

Setting up a hotkey to open iTunes with the key command "alt or
options" plus "i" would open up iTunes library search every time;
nerve racking. However when I changed the hotkey assignment to
"Control" plus "i" it launched iTunes. Which, of course is what I
wanted it to do. Was it the hotkey I used or what. Hey it's working,
but I'm curious. Hope this all makes sense.
