Something like this used to happen for people that kept an external drive 
connected (because QS would try to get something from the drive and would have 
to wait for it to wake up). Could that be a factor here?

I have an external drive connected all the time at work, and it never causes a 
problem, but I don’t have any of its contents in my catalog.
