Based on everything you’ve said, this definitely sounds like Quicksilver is waiting on a disk to “wake up” or otherwise become available. Do you have anything in your catalog that isn’t on the main drive (even via symbolic link to another drive)? Something else you could try is creating another user on the same machine and see how Quicksilver performs there. If it’s OK, we know it’s a setting or catalog entry somewhere.
