There’s a way to do this, but it isn’t completely obvious.

    Folder ⇥ Spotlight Filenames Matching… ⇥ search term

You can do this from any folder, including `/`, which would search the whole 
system.

We should probably make the results appear as they come in, but that’s not at 
the top if the list.
