I was unable to find a good explanation, but everyone who sees a message like 
that also reports something not working until a reboot. There was also more 
than one post that suggested the hard drive could be failing, so you might want 
to look into it some more.

I would try installing the iTunes plug-in again and see if it works. I don’t 
think that was the problem.
