Idea of showing result of calculation in the background isn't very good, especially if you have big number, or you need to work later with that sum. Mac's Spotlight does better job with it: you type what you want to be calculated, you can then press cmd+c to copy the result(which is clearly shown in a separate place), or you can select whole calculation with cmd+a and cmd+c to copy the problem. When you close and return to Spotlight, your problem is highlighted so you if you type anything, you can start new problem, or if you press arrow left/right, to modify the last problem. So, anything close to that is not possible in QS?
