The magic is in the Actions section of Preferences.

1. Activate 𝑄uıcĸsılⅴεʀ, press `⌘-,` and select `Actions` on the left.

2. Make sure `All Actions` is selected and enter for `search for` in
the search box.

3. Select the `Search for…` action and clear the search results and
scroll down until you see your selection.

4. Drag `Search for…` up above `Open URL`.

And you're done. Regular URLs will still have `Open URL` as their
default action, but searches will default to `Search for…`.
