I tried playing with Nostromo appearance and I'm a bit confused. I selected the Nostromo interface and hit the Customize button. I changed the popup (I assume for colors) from Nostromo Default to Shiny and nothing happened. At least until I hit the Set Colors button. Why have the button? Why not just make the change when the popup is set?
The little warning below didn't make much sense to me. Where were the "pre-set themes"? Was that what was in the popup? Which current theme won't be shown? The one I select in the popup? So I experimented and hit the Set Colors button, and didn't like any of the themes. Fair enough. I went back to the main Appearance tab and selected Bezel (Built-in) and found all my color customizations had been lost. I really didn't expect changes I made in a screen specifically for Nostromo, would affect other things. Perhaps the warning was trying to get that across, but it didn't for me. I gather that there's one appearance/color settings for quicksilver and not one per interface. This makes sense when both interface choice and colors are not the same pref screen (aka at the same level). I think the relationship is far less obvious if you hit a button to customize an interface and go to a new pref screen. Perhaps it would be nicer to have color settings per interface and a way to copy them from one interface to another. I get that that's a bigger change. In the short term I think the Nostromo prefs would be better to remove the Set Colors button and to move the warning before the popup and to change the text to something like: Select color themes for Nostromo here. WARNING: Selecting a theme changes the color settings in the main Appearance preferences and therefore all other interfaces. Maybe there should be a preview button to let you look without committing.
