That would make sense if the popup reflected some state, but it doesn’t. It’s 
more like a list of actions to perform. Since one of them is necessarily 
selected by default, you wouldn’t have any way to “run” it without the button. 
(And you wouldn’t want it to “run” simply because you opened that panel and 
looked at it.)

Yes.

Yes. Because you could set colors using one of the themes, but then change one 
or two things from the main appearance prefs. Or you could do everything from 
the appearance prefs and never touch the pre-set themes at all. There’s no way 
to make the popup reflect current reality. Like I said, you only use it to *do 
something*, and then it becomes irrelevant again.

It uses the standard colors because, like you said, some people won’t like any 
of the pre-sets. I wanted people to be able to set whatever they want. The 
pre-sets are just a convenient way to get to a starting point.
