Thanks for the suggestion, Rob. Unfortunately for me, this resets the 
activation hotkey to its original combination of ^-Space.

Patrick, I was initially hesitant to go that route because I make frequent 
use of key remappings with Karabiner, but this seems to be the best 
solution to my problem.
