It sounds like maybe it’s already mounted, so it’s telling you to use the existing mount instead of creating a duplicate.

I just discovered that if have nothing selected in the finder view, things behave normally. The path in QS, then shows as /Volumes/C/... , while if
I select an item and hit cmd+esc, the path shows as just /C/...

How are you getting the files selected in QS if not with ⌘⎋ (when you see the path with `/Volumes/C/`? Are you just selecting the disk and hitting → or /?

In any case, it’s odd that selecting with ⌘⎋ shows `/C/`. Can you run `mount` in Terminal and share the output with me?
