The problem only occurs with the plugin loaded, and doesn't occur if the
plugin is not loaded. So it is clearly not *just* Word looking at the
clipboard. On the other hand, the form of the bookmark name (OLE_LINK#) is
a form that appears to come from Microsoft, since it can be seen in other
situations.

My conclusion is that the shelf plugin is triggering something inside Word,
which creates the bookmark. I can't see why this would be necessary -
normal cutting and pasting works fine without it. But I don't know enough
about how ether the clipboard or the shelf plugin work to be sure.

For people who don't use bookmarks, this is probably just a minor memory
leak. But for those who do use them, this is a disaster.

Since this kind of bookmark is internal to Word, it is of course impossible
to reproduce the problem in other applications. That's like having a
problem with pedals on a bicycle, and asking if the problem can be
reproduced in cars.
