Thanks for the reply, Rob. Yes it was strange. I reinstalled QS, but that 
didn't resolve the problem. I then went into each section and turned off 
many features. Frankly, although I've been using QS for many years, I never 
learned to mine it's features. For example, the triggers feature escapes 
me. (An over 68-thing, I guess.) Anyway, after turning off a lot of 
options, QS stopped using so much processor. 

I can't know exactly what was causing the problem, but I'm glad it's back 
to semi-normal. I say "semi", because I probably disabled some features I 
*did* use. Oh well, one day I'll learn to use this great utility more.
