I’m using Caps Lock for activation as well (remapped to Ctrl), so I doubt that’s the problem.
So will it only fail once, and then on the second try, QS opens? I would suggest trying to use ⌃Space (just on occasion) to see if it does the same thing, but muscle memory might get in the way of that.
