I didn't meant to change it, but add another method of scanning tracks 
using a directory tree.

Yeah, my first thought was importing music in iTunes to generate the xml 
file for the plugin and add applescript actions for another player — as a 
workaround.

 I remember you wrote a guide for plugin development. Could a plugin that 
scans music by directories and maybe reads m3u files be feasible in pyobjc?
