It is not our job, nor responsibility to determine what the builder
may want/need or what the developers are thinking. We just provide
instructions.

That said there is *plenty* of precedent (in fact David Jensen just
mailed in today to ask why the FLAC instructions don't explain the
--enable-sse switch, which is not on by default) to explain what an
Editor feels is an important switch.

Now, that said, I don't feel that AAlib is that important, however,
it is the only package that is not on by default (of packages that
are in the BLFS book), so I added it a long time ago.

So, what we have here is a difference of opinion by two Editors.
Sort of a dilemma, wouldn't you say?

So, since you feel you have authority to change what another Editor
feels should be there, I suppose I'll do likewise. Hopefully, it
won't turn into a pissing contest, and you'll just drop it. Of
course, if a discussion were to ensue (on -dev only) about should
the switch be there, then the result of that discussion would be
what we do.

Of course, trying to get opinions on such a trivial matter is
likely to result in not many responses. I guess Andy, it comes down
to respect for what another Editor does. I've corrected others' work,
but only for grammar/spelling errors. Anything else will provoke
a question from me before just changing things. You don't show
this expected respect. There's been many items you tried to pull
out and I put back in. You really should consider others' thoughts
before you go soloing everything. :-(
