I do use TeX, and could provide some sample source files for testing. I do
not think I could get acquainted to the build system for tackling the
above before the February 15th freeze (lack of time).
Asymptote is a script language for vector graphics and supersedes
metapost. It may not be wanted by all people using TeX, but it produces
nice graphics.
