Thanks for that, particularly for confirming my guess that mktextex is
unnecessary.
A lot to think about. My current plan is to deal with the --with-system
part, then update my own general buildscripts, build a new LFS, and see
what happens with the installer before anything from a desktop has been
installed. And also to confirm if anything there links to system
libraries.
