Of course it does. However, it will install additional components if you have the packages I listed. Understand, all I quoted would be optional dependencies. In a nutshell, here's my observations. libgnomeui is used to integrate into the GNOME desktop. desktop-file-utils is used because it wants to run the update-desktop-database program after it installs .desktop files. For crying out loud it *looks* for the update-desktop-database program during configure. :-) Shared-mime-info is used because it wants to run the update-mime-database program after installing mime files. Again, this program is looked for by the configure program. Gnome-mime-data is looked for (there's even a configure flag to point configure to the path) to find your gnome mime-data and application-registration database. None of these have anything to do with GNOME VFS.
