No, you guessed it correctly, but Bruce also makes a valid point as far as simplicity goes. Looking at cvs and subversion, the only real difference for those is inetd/xinetd. NTP may be able to run that way, but I have never used xinetd and it's been years since I used inetd. Rsync is equally easy and doesn't require much different. So looking at those, it seems that just the fact that it can run in two different modes has been enough to separate the pages in the past (especially considering ssh and rsync don't even have instructions in their client pages). Basically, I'm just throwing the question out there as to viability. The extra page might help a few people. It also might be a good place to stand on a soapbox and tell people who have multiple computers to use their own private NTP server instead of hitting public servers multiple times. -- Archaic Want control, education, and security from your operating system?
