Yes, I tried that, including the .mcop, .local, and .qt dirs and the related files in /tmp and /var/tmp. KDE indeed rebuilds these files, but Kmenu still does not find kcontrol, and kcontrol when run manually is broken. The Kmenu still has problems when executing a program from the link. Thanks for the thought, though. I'll continue pursue the problem.
