For now, the second make

Does anyone have any objections to the above change?
What is the accompanying text going to say?
How does dropping linking to libz change the library?
How is the functionality changed?
Why has *nobody* ever mentioned this before?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing against the change, but
what I've read so far, all you've really done is say, "this
made it work for me".
I'm the kind of guy that wants to know *why* it now works, and
*what* was making it not work before.
I can then decide if I have any objections.
Sorry, yes I've jumped the gun a bit. I have seen this issue before and
always just resorted to winzip on a windows pc. It wasn't until I had
potentially 4000 files to screw with that I brought it up. When I had
looked at this issue before, there were tons of posts similar
complaining about 'PK 4.5', but none about 'PK 2.1', so i dug in a
little deeper when the binary 5.51 worked. Unfortunately, I've already
converted the affected files without leaving a test case, but I can
easily recreate one when I get back in an hour or so. I'd actually like
to see it fixed, but it's beyond what I could figure out last night.
